To encourage players competing in local tournaments and to have a fair and challenging opportunities, Bahrain Tennis Federation (BTF) has introduced the Age Eligibility and a Ranking System.
Players' Age Eligibility for 2009 tournaments:
- 8 years & under: Born 01 JAN 2001 and after.
- 10 years & under: Born 01 JAN 1999 and after.
- 12 years & under: Born 01 JAN 1997 and after.
- 14 years & under: Born 01 JAN 1995 and after.
- 16 years & under: Born 01 JAN 1993 and after.
- 18 years & under: Born 01 JAN 1991 and after.
Ranking System:
- Applicable to all BTF Tournaments in Bahrain.
- Tournament organizers are requested to use the latest ranking for placing the seedings in tournament draws.
- Tournament draws and final results to be sent to BTF for updating the rankings.
- A player's ranking is calculated using points for singles and doubles results.
- 25% of the points earned in the previous year are counted in the current year.
Tournaments are divided into the following grades:
- Grade A (BTF Masters)
- Grade 3 (BTF Circuit)
- Grade 4-5 (BTF Sanctioned)
BTF Ranking points are available at all tournaments. In order to get a ranking a player must reach a round where points are available. The number of points available in each round will vary depending on the grading of the tournament and the round reached.
The number of points awarded for each grade is as follows:

NOTE: A first round player who does not show for a match or withdrawn before the match starts (walkover), will not be awarded points. A walkover in the next rounds will entitle the player for points equivalent to the preceding round only.
